Mainly serving the East of England, Harwich International Port offers a quiet getaway embarkation point, particularly for the Baltic, European Cities and Scandinavia. It has an excellent terminal and with trains from London that literally stop by your ship, it is one of the most convenient ports. If travelling by car, there are no busy roads to negotiate with the A120 going directly to Harwich from Essex. Harwich itself is a quiet, mainly residential area with a few shops reminding one of the 1950s. The Pier Restaurant overlooks the waterfront and is a venue sought by locals for miles around. Harwich is famous for the Mayflower which first sailed to the United States of America.
